Introduction to the Corrosion and Coatings Research Group

The Corrosion and Coating Group is one of the three groups under the Research Deputy of Razi Metallurgy Research Center. This group, equipped with specialized equipment in the field of corrosion and coating tests, has the capability to perform a wide range of electrochemical and corrosion tests to determine corrosion behavior and mechanisms, as well as quality evaluation tests for metallic, polymeric, and paint coatings.

In addition, by utilizing the knowledge and experience of expert specialists and consultants, it provides various other services in the field of consulting and qualitative evaluation of protective systems such as coating systems, cathodic and anodic protection, in order to enhance the resistance of structures and industrial components against corrosive environmental conditions. Investigation of the causes of degradation and corrosion of industrial components and providing solutions, simulation of real service conditions of components at laboratory scale, evaluation of corrosion behavior and estimation of their actual service life are among the other laboratory and research services of this group.

Furthermore, considering the needs of industries for on-site testing, this research group is prepared to provide project-based services, supervision, coating inspection, and non-destructive tests such as coating thickness measurement, Pull-off adhesion test, and Holiday test (coating defect detection) at the customers’ designated locations.
